This December, our Executive Director was an invited speaker to present at the Citizen CPR Foundation’s, Cardiac Arrest Survival Summit in Seattle WA. Formerly known as the Emergency Cardiac Care Update conference, the program draws attendees from all over the world. Attendees this year came from 21 countries and included leaders in the resuscitation field including medical personnel, educators, scientists, lay rescuers, and cardiac arrest survivors and their families.
Our presentation, “Caring for the Caregiver – the Missing Link”, explored the personal impact of providing care for those in need, whether they be paid or unpaid professionals, motivated helpers, by-standers, friends or family. This is a topic that is often overlooked in the majority of medical training programs, yet is vital to the wellbeing of the caregiver.
It was an honor to be an invited speaker to this event and to bring to light this personal aspect of providing medical care. We commend the Citizen CPR Foundation for recognizing the need to bring this to their conference and prioritizing the need to engage attendees in this conversation to care for those that provide care for so many.
